New Year, New Year's Resolutions - Not this Chickie!

As the New Year is 8 days old (well 7 for me as I'm a day behind in the US) new year's resolutions are still shiny and sparkly and are probably still being adhered to.  Not this little black duck, sorry I don't set resolutions and, hang on to your seats, I don't really set goals.  I have a lot of maybes and hopes and wishes.

I know a lot of goal setters out there are going, well no wonder she's not getting anything she doesn't set goals. Well I guess I'm different. I know I should set goals but then I feel the pressure and that pushes me back even further. So I don't set them and I go along on my way.

I often review what I've done over the past year on my own blog (link on the side) I like to look back and I see the things I've achieved and I feel pretty proud of what I've done. Last year I traveled a bit - something I've not really done before. Did I set goals for that? No! Was it a good experience - heck yes!

So even though I don't set goals and don't set resolutions I still achieve what I'm happy to achieve. Could I do more - Yes.  Will I do more? Who knows what tomorrow holds for me. I do know that I'll tackle whatever is thrown at me this year to the best of my ability, and that's all anyone can ask for.

I do set goals...constantly. And, like Nicki, I like to reflect and think about things. The days between Christmas and New Year have always been a good time for me to be introspective and sort out the really big changes I want to make.
One of the things I've learnt over time is that it's not enough to make a list of things you want to do; you have to schedule the time in your day/week/month to give yourself the opportunity to do it.

I make lists, usually at the start of the week for what I need to get done during the week. Some of those things are the small steps I need to reach my bigger goals. Without my lists I'd be lost.

I'm a list girl myself.
Good on you for just living life.

I do lists too but probably should do it more often. I do enjoy ticking things off it.

Hi Nicki
I'm a fellow member of both WHRWA and NWRwa so welcome. As for goals and resolutions- this year I made a resolution to not set any goals, but I guess I failed since I set the "don't set" a goal as a goal. Confuse you yet? If not, I's sure it will happen at some point. Not sure if I met you with Loretta or not, but looking forward to meeting you at the next NW meeting.
